Resistors, capacitors, transistors, breadboards oh my! Do these terms intimidate and scare you away from learning electronics? Look no further because this course is all about building a foundation filled with all of the basic terms and concepts which will launch you into a new world filled with unlimited electronic inventions!

Understanding electronic concepts can be learned and retained when properly balanced with hands-on lessons which allow students to experience and visually see a relation between the term and the concept being taught.  When learning is active, it becomes a cycle of exploration, concept development, analysis and reflection that leads to further inspiration and exploration.

This 12 week semester long course will provide students with a solid foundation in electronics.  Students will begin with the basics and work at their own speed on various projects which illustrate the basic concepts of series and parallel circuits, resistors, capacitors, switches, motors, diodes, light emitting diodes, transistors and integrated circuits.  We will use prototyping techniques and schematic diagrams to build example circuits with these components.  Students will also learn schematic symbols and be able to read circuit diagrams.

Through exploratory learning, students in this course will walk away with an understanding of the basic  fundamentals of electronics which will move them closer to developing their own printed circuit boards.

Students will be able keep the projects that they build and will also receive a basic electronics kit which includes a volt meter, circuit components and prototyping materials.
